What We Believe

Our Statement of Faith

Our Statement of Faith

Our beliefs are centered on Scripture and centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ. They shape how we understand God, the Bible, humanity, salvation, and God’s redemptive plan for the world. These core convictions guide everything we do from how we worship and serve to how we love our community and make disciples. We invite you to explore what we believe and discover the hope found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

What We Believe

Our beliefs guide and inspire our mission to help people find and follow Jesus. The Journey Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God, and our beliefs are rooted in Scripture and aligned with the Assemblies of God's Statement of Fundamental Truths. Here's what we believe.

We believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word and our final authority for truth, faith, and daily
living. It reveals who God is and guides every next step we take.
2 Timothy 3:16–17/2 Peter 1:20–21

We believe there is one eternal God who exists in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit—perfectly united and fully God.
Deuteronomy 6:4/Matthew 28:19

We believe Jesus is fully God and fully man. He came to earth, lived without sin, died for us,
rose again, and made a way for us to know God.
John 1:1–14/Colossians 2:9

We believe humanity was created good but chose sin, which separated us from God and
created our need for a Savior.
Genesis 3:1–7/Romans 5:12

We believe salvation is found through faith in Jesus alone. Through His grace we are forgiven,
made new, and restored to relationship with God.
● Ephesians 2:8–9/Romans 10:9–10

We believe water baptism and communion are important practices Jesus gave the Church to
publicly express faith and remember His sacrifice.
Matthew 28:19/1 Corinthians 11:23–26

We believe believers can experience a special empowering of the Holy Spirit to help them live
boldly and fulfill God’s mission.
Acts 1:8/Acts 2:1–4

We believe speaking in tongues is the initial outward evidence of receiving the baptism in the
Holy Spirit as seen in Scripture.
Acts 2:4/Acts 10:44–46

We believe following Jesus is a lifelong journey of becoming more like Him as the Holy Spirit
transforms our hearts and lives.
Romans 12:1–2/1 Peter 1:15–16
